Are free samples available?

No, we do not offer free samples. However, we will soon introduce our fragrance sampler kit! This way you can try our scents, before committing to our larger vessels.

How long will my candles stay fresh and what is the best way to store them?

Candles can stay fresh for quite a while. Actually, the longer they sit (cure) the better the fragrance throw. You can store them almost anywhere. If you are using them in your bathroom or around your tub, avoid getting water in the wax. If you live in a warmer city, avoid window sills and too much light exposure because the wax can melt.

Can I recycle my jar once I finish burning my candle?

Of course! Use the jar as a makeup brush holder, to pot a plant, wax melt holder, pen or pencil holder. Once you have fully burned the candles, simply hand wash the glass in warm water and soap. Make sure to remove all labels and the wick before washing. We would love to see photos of your recycled jars. Tag us on Instagram @canaryave

Are your fragrances phthalate-free?

Yes, all Canary Ave’s fragrances are phatalate-free. We hand-select fragrances and it is important their composition is phthalate-free. Phthalates are chemicals used to make plastic flexible and harder to break. Recently, there have been concerns phthalates can cause health issues when exposed to high levels.

The candle I want is out of stock. When will it be in stock again?

We try to keep all of our candles in stock. We are a growing company and every once in awhile, we need a few days to play catch up. Please email us to request an estimated back in stock date for any of our candles.

What are scented Wax Melts?

Wax melts are an easy, alternative to candles, oil diffusers, plug-ins, and other home fragrance solutions. Wax melts are placed in a wax warmer, and warmed with a hot plate or light bulb located inside. Once the wax begins to melt, your room will be filled with fragrance.

What ingredients are used in wax melts?

CanaryAve’s wax melts contain 100% natural soy wax, phthalate-free and essential oil-infused fragrance oils. All CanaryAve wax melts use are paraffin-free. We use a natural soy wax in our wax melts, with no added chemical dyes to keep our wax melts as natural as possible.

How to use Wax Melts?

Break off 1 or 2 cubes and add to the top of an electric or tea-light tart burner to melt. The Wax can be re-melted until it is no longer fragrant.

What are reed diffusers?

Reed diffusers are a relatively maintenance-free, passive home fragrance product that disperses scent continuously into the air for an extended period of time without the use of flames.

How do reed diffusers work?

To enjoy one of our reed diffusers, carefully remove the plug from the decorative glass base. First unscrew the silver cap, then grip the plug and gently rock it back and forth in an upward motion until the plug is released. Put the silver cap back on the glass base. Then dip the bundle of reed sticks into the fragrance oil and flip them; leave the reed sticks inserted in the glass base. The all-natural rattan reed sticks will start to absorb the fragrance oil and then begin to diffuse the scent into the air.

How to best use a reed diffuser?

Do not place your diffuser on sensitive or uneven surfaces where it can be knocked over. To refresh the fragrance, simply flip the reeds every couple of days. Please remember to always flip the reeds over a paper towel and wipe the bottle to ensure no oil drips onto your surface.

Is there a proper way to burn candles?

Yes!

Ideally, the first time the candle is lit, allow the candle to burn until the melted wax pool reaches the edges of the candle’s container.
Before each burn, make sure your wick is trimmed to ¼”. Don’t drop debris, like matches or wick trimmings, into the wax.
Never burn longer than 4-hour intervals. Set candle on heat-resistant surface and avoid drafts.
Always burn within sight and extinguish before leaving room. Don’t burn near things that catch fire. Keep away from children and pets.
Don’t extinguish with water. Always let wax harden before relighting, touching or moving.
Burning for longer periods of time than recommended can create soot on the glass or cause the glass to become extremely hot, posing a fire hazard.

What type of wax is used in your candles candles?

Our candles use all natural soy wax made from soy beans. Our candles are paraffin free, phthalate-free and cruelty free. Our all natural soy wax burns longer than other waxes, however soy wax can show its true self after burning. Don't be alarmed if you find that your candle wax starts to "sweat", frost, spot, or vary in color after being lit. These are natural imperfections that may appear after burning.

What does "hand-poured" mean?

The term "hand-poured"  means, we hand-pour the soy wax into each individual candle container, wax melts and reed diffuser we sell. Essentially, it serves to show how each candle we create is made by hand - as far as the process will allow. The products you buy will be carefully made, poured and labeled by hand.

What are your wicks made of?

Our wicks are made of cotton. The reinforced construction of the wick is designed to ensure a consistent burn These wicks are vegan friendly, and cruelty free.

When should I trim the wick?

You should trim the wick before each burn. Trim the wick to ¼ to a ½ inch. Too small of a trim could cause a smaller melt pool, and too large of a trim could burn through your candle faster. Too large of a wick could also cause your candle to “dance”. If this happens, blow out the candle, trim the wick to proper size, and relight.
